GART | Chicago, IL

How is it September already… I’m not sure where this year has gone!

Anyway, today’s post is about the second part of our Great American Rail Trip, and technically the start of our rail trip.

Chicago is definitely the Manhattan of the mid-west, with the added benefit of having the lovely river snaking across the city. It’s a foodie’s heaven as well. Famous for steaks, deep dish pizza and also amazing donuts! No pictures of any because we were scoffing them down like gluttons to get any haha.

Beautiful architecture and wonderful food… what is there not to love?

(Maybe the manic drivers who have no regard of whether the Green man is lit or not…)

Descending into Chicago. Awesome urban planning made the grid quite a sight to behold…
The next day we woke up to a rather different sight on the ground.

If you went to Chicago and didn’t see the Bean (officially called Cloud Gate), were you even in Chicago?
Further on from the Bean, there was another installation where water would sprout out from random faces.

Golden hour…
Quite possibly my favourite spot in Downtown Chi – the garden behind the Art Institute of Chicago.
So pleased to find a spot of peace and quiet amidst the hustle & bustle
We visited Navy Pier as well, which had a ton of shops catered for tourists. There was a nice indoor garden upstairs though.
