GART | San Francisco, CA

The last stop on our coast-to-coast trip.

San Francisco was… unexpected. It was a lot grimier and colder than I envisioned. Nevertheless, I enjoyed eating my way through this quirky city (hehe).

The best way to see a city is by walking, and in SF you get the added benefit of giving your glutes a proper workout on the hilly streets.

There were loads of pretty houses/buildings.

The most famous row of pretty houses in SF – Painted Ladies on Alamo Square.

The fog was most evident in the evenings when we were there.

There were some pretty cool trams too…

Including the famous cable car.

I got a strawberry balsamic ice cream from Bi-Rite creamery, and…

We chilled at Dolores Park in the Mission District…

Where there were Spanish-style churches…

as well as colourful buildings. Also, ate the best fish taco from a taquiera in the area (no picture because I basically scoffed it down).

Other than tacos and burritos at Mission, we couldn’t leave SF without trying the cioppino…

And where better to have it than at Sotto Mare, which boasts that it has the “Best damn cioppino in SF”. The hearty seafood stew was incredibly yummy, although one has to be prepared to queue.

Continuing on this food journey, we went to Fisherman’s Wharf…

And visit In-N-Out, where workers were busy assembling burgers for hungry diners.

The bun was one of the best burger buns I’ve had ever, but it couldn’t make up for the disappointingly thin patty 😦
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
To make up for the disappointing burger, we shared the classic hot fudge sundae from Ghirardelli. Insider tip: Every time you go into a Ghirardelli shop, you’ll be offered a delicious square of chocolate 😉

Bellies full, we ambled over to Pier 39, which was packed with tourists…

And the highlight was definitely visiting the sleek, sub-bathing seals.

One of the last things we did before leaving SF was to visit Marshall’s Beach…
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
How sick is this view???
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
We had the Golden Gate Bridge to ourselves! And it was so beautiful in the dusky pink sunset. (Side note: apparently this beach is quite popular with nudists, but there weren’t any that day possibly because it was super cold).
